  • Supporting post-graduate art and design students with dyslexia and dyspraxia

Rankin, Qona, 2020, Conference or Workshop, Supporting post-graduate art and design students with dyslexia and dyspraxia at International Conference on Neurodiversity: A paradigm Shift in Higher Education & Employment, Ireland, 03-04 Dec 2020.

Abstract or Description:

Focusing on text based support strategies, this talk also includes some examples of how we support our students in terms of their studio practices. These cases range from Jenny, a ceramics student, working out how to programme and book a kiln, to Alistair, an architectural student struggling to fit a drawing onto a piece of paper, to Kate a sculptor student having to learn to talk her way to a sale, to Lucy a textile student struggling how to thread a loam. The intention is to demonstrate the breadth of dyslexia support at the Royal College of Art.
