Faust, Chantal, 2016, Conference or Workshop, Swimming in the shallows at Surfaces: Friction, Translation, Corruption, Royal College of Art, 2016-06-29.
Abstract or Description: | “Scratch the surface and there’s just more surface.” There is something quite exciting about surfaces. Something I would like to scratch and see more of… in order to see more surface, that is. I want to know what is lurking there and what it can reveal, if indeed a surface can reveal anything. If everything is presented, there on the surface, what happens when we scratch it, with our fingers or with the graze of our eyes. What happens when we try to dive in? |
