Richon, Olivier, 2016, Journal Article, The Indifferent E.R.O.S. Self/Love, 8 (8). pp. 31-50. ISSN 2048-8352
Abstract or Description: | The essay considers Antoine Watteau's painting 'The Indifferent' (1718) and relates the notion of indifference to Kant's judgement of taste. It argues that there is an analogy between the Libertine's ethics of indifference regarding love and passion, and an aesthetics of taste based upon a disinterested judgement. |
