Gluzberg, Margarita, 2016, Show, Exhibition or Event, Shadows on the Pavement
Abstract or Description: | Shadows on the Pavement is the title of a 1960 Russian documentary which follows the paths of Moscow ‘delinquents’ who failed to adopt the Soviet way of life. It features the Rock On Bones phenomenon - a name given to illicit recordings of Western pop music, made from discarded medical x-rays and sold on street corners. In 1959, a Dior catwalk show takes place in Moscow, and the photographer Howard Sochurek shoots the models for Life magazine. Later in life he becomes interested in x-rays and other forms of medical imaging and writes a book on the subject. Shadows on the Pavement is Margarita Gluzberg’s new performance lecture about historical cultural contamination and its future transmissions. |
