Abstract or Description: | Catalogue essay for Michael Werner (New York and Koln) published on the occasion of Enrico David Life Sentences, 6 September - 1 November 2014 and 6 November 2014 - 24 January 2015. "The Leaping Bones of Enrico David" is an experiment of shifting registers of writing combining situation, fiction, philosophical poetics, textual commentary and artist's statements. The title itself comes out of a process of reverie after sitting in the studio shifting backwards and forwards from the perception of a torso, the play of unconscious association, fragments drawn from both memory and direct perception, dreams, passages across vectors of time and history and the absorption and animation of moods. The intention was to create a disjunctive narrative, not unlike the exhibition itself rather than a discrete series of encounters of the works within any given sequence. |
