'Design and the decorative arts in Japan c.1750-1900' is one chapter in a history of design and the decorative arts globally, c. 1400-2000, to be published in 2013 by the Bard Graduate Center and Yale University Press. The chapter depicts and analyses major conditions and developments within the design, production, circulation and consumption of textile, fashion, product and graphic design in early modern Japan, against their social, economic, political, cultural and technological backdrop.
