Jones, Sarah, 2012, Show, Exhibition or Event, Seduced By Art: Photography Past and Present Curated by Hope Kingsley and Chris Riopelle (with catalogue)
Abstract or Description: | Seduced by art: Photography Past and Present is a major group exhibition curated by Hope Kingsley from the Wilson Centre for Photography, London and Chirs Riopelle from The National Gallery, London ‘that brings together exceptional examples of early and contemporary photography.’ The show opens in the Sainsbury Wing at The National Gallery in October 2012 and will tour to Caixa Forum Barcelona and Caixa Forum Madrid in 2013. Three works by Sarah Jones will be included in this exhibition. Jones’ diptych The Rose Garden (display: II) (I) 2007 and The Rose Gardens (display: II) (III) 2008 will be shown alongside Dutch still life painting drawn from The National Gallery collection. An accompanying full colour catalogue, produced by The National Gallery, will include reproductions of Sarah Jones’ work and an in-depth interview around her practice and influences with curators Chris Riopelle and Hope Kingsley This exhibition ‘explores the dialogue between the history of art, the art of the 19th century and modern photographers. It also maps the development of photography as it evolved from the 19th century to reassess traditional subjects such as still life, landscape and social portraiture’ (from NG press release). |
