  • Crafting Futures Central Asia: Kyrgyzstan Pilot Project Report, Inter-Generational Craft Communication and Collective Craft Futures

Simmons, Tom and Dare, Eleanor, 2020, Printed Publication, Crafting Futures Central Asia: Kyrgyzstan Pilot Project Report, Inter-Generational Craft Communication and Collective Craft Futures

Abstract or Description:

Crafting Futures Central Asia is a three-year programme of collaborative research and skills development activities that encourages intercultural dialogue, exchange and collective learning to help address global and regional threats to material and intangible craft practices and heritages in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. This report presents the findings from a pilot project undertaken in Kyrgyzstan in February and March 2020. The project responded to themes identified by/with craftspeople, leaders and policy makers living and working in Kyrgyzstan during a preparatory scoping visit which was held in October 2019. Alongside documenting the activities that were organised collectively during the pilot project, the report presents suggestions for future activities that could be developed during the next phase of the Crafting Futures Central Asia programme.
