Hamlyn, Nicky, 2016, Journal Article, Two Machine Films: About Now MMX and Ex Library Senses of Cinema (78). pp. 1-17. ISSN 1443-4059
Abstract or Description: | Study of two city films by artists William English and William Raban. William English's film 'Ex Library' uses mechanical shooting procedures and time lapse over an eighteen month period to record the rhythms and movements of a crane driver in his cab during a building project in Old Street. William Raban's film 'About Now MMX' was shot from the top floor of Erno Goldfinger's Balfron Tower, and records the dense, relentless activity of the inhabitants and workers of East London around Canary Wharf and Poplar neighbourhoods. |
