Strutton, John and Carbone, Riccardo, 2024, Show, Exhibition or Event, Original copy
Abstract or Description: | This was the second part of an ongoing project with The Burren College of Art in Ireland to engage with the area’s landscape, geology, culture and history by using the Original Copy software to generate sound, image and text for an installation, exhibition and performance. The project has involved collaborating with students and staff at the college. The Burren is a karst/glaciokarst landscape centred in County Clare on the west coast of Ireland. The area is formed from a thick succession of sedimentary rocks which form a limestone pavement of clints and grikes, deep fissures and slabs, in which microclimates create fertile conditions for flora and fauna to thrive. The entire region is rich in in megalithic sites and medieval ruins and this aspect of place or genus loci was something that this project attempted to articulate. |
