The aim of this project was to research perceptions of contained space and volume when the containing object is moved from the horizontal surface of the table to the vertical surface of the wall, the normal domain of painting. Investigations made use of the interplay of a strong linear motif contained within a circle, contained within a square. Two of the works resulting from these investigations were multi part pieces that built on findings from Wavelength and Binary Shift & Tectonic Drift.
