  • Unconscious Narrative, painted silk hanging in Virginia Woolf, an exhibition inspired by her writings, Tate St Ives

Talbot, Emma, 2018, Show, Exhibition or Event, Unconscious Narrative, painted silk hanging in Virginia Woolf, an exhibition inspired by her writings, Tate St Ives

Abstract or Description:

My painted silk hanging, 'Unconscious Narrative' (210cm x 155cm) 2016, was included in this group exhibition, exploring the relationship between selected contemporary/historical artworks and Virginia Woolf's writing. The silk hanging was based on immediate paintings/drawings from my own remembered dream imagery and included questions about gender, painting, anxiety and imaginary dream encounter.
The exhibition of works by over 80 artists, toured to Pallant House Gallery, Chichester 26 May - 16 September and Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge 2 Oct-9 Dec in 2018 and was accompanied by a publication/catalogue of the exhibition.
