Golden, Pamela, 2018, Art or design object, Thunderstruck - a series of Iraq War watercolours
Abstract or Description: | Thunderstruck is a series of large scale watercolours combining found images and photographs documenting the bombing of the city of Baghdad during the Iraq war in the early 2000s with stills from the film The Thief of Bagdad (1940) alongside weather images. The series of seventeen paintings began in 2015 and culminated in 2018. Three works - Thunderstruck, Enter Sandman and Down Rodeo - were part of the group exhibition Fazer Sentido/Making Sense at Casa de Cerca museum, Almada, Lisbon, 11 March 2017-18 January 2018. The other works were presented at a solo exhibition Thunderstruck at Marlborough, London, 10 January -3 February 2018.
