Golden, Pamela, 2017, Show, Exhibition or Event, Participation in Fazer Sentido/Making Sense

Abstract or Description:

Pamela Golden participated in the exhibition Fazer Sentido/Making Sense with her three works: Enter Sandman, Thunderstruck and Down Rodeo (part of the seventeen paintings from Thunderstruck series). The works give us facts and open to the discussion about war and fear.

The exhibition project Fazer Sentido/Making Sense aims to remember the important role of the senses to perception, emotion, and knowledge. Through the senses we receive data that allows us to understand the world around us; we realize the existence of surrounding space, its seductions and its dangers. The physical senses open other senses or capacities, such as memory, and imagination. In this sense, to approach the senses not as something merely physical, but as instruments that can launch us in various territories is also something that this exhibition intends. The senses also create a web that unites and enhances the sense of what we perceive. For example, sound in a movie enhances the image, and the emotions it conveys to us. Senses make us create sense of the world; the alert us to perils, show us the ways; inform us of beauty, ugliness, security or insecurity.
The annual theme of 2017, the Five Senses, is a classical theme in the theory and history of the Art and Sciences, and also an appealing theme for philosophy throughout the centuries – and, more recently, for cognitive science.
