Gluzberg, Margarita, 2015, Conference or Workshop, Teaching Drawing lecture at States of Drawing, Rouen, France, 9 -10 Apr 2015.
Abstract or Description: | By looking at the current practice of drawing, Margarita Gluzberg explores the way it is taught in art schools today, focusing on the Royal College of Art, where she is currently based. Taking from her own experience as student, artist, and educator, she examines the discourse around drawing research and the way drawing functions within the development of students’ work at MA and PhD level. The presentation sets out current and historical examples of how drawing was and is incorporated into the teaching curriculum, and questions its status on a conceptual level. Gluzberg also discusses her own work, where drawing is a central and autonomous aspect of her practice. |
