Wilson, Jane and Wilson, Louise, 2011, Show, Exhibition or Event, Tempo Suspenso (Suspending Time)

Abstract or Description:

Suspending Time, is the most complete look of the authors work held in Spain, curated by Isabel Carlos. It includes all work 2008-2010.
The exhibition comprised of works emanating out from research in the archives of Stanley Kubrick. Reflecting on the specific circumstance, the fact that he cancelled his film "Aryan Papers", whilst unfolding all of the research material around the abandoned project, culminating in the authors film "Unfolding the Aryan Papers", 2009. Historical memory and narrative speculation blend with each other, on a plane that only art can conscientiously problematize. The authors also exhibited carefully selected archive images from the 30's and 40's, images Kubrick had acquired from the Ealing Film Studio archive. The authors also created bronze casts of the original yardstick featured in their work and inspired by images from the Ealing archive.
The exhibition catalogue is issued in conjunction with a 2010-2011 exhibition of artwork by British artists Jane & Louise Wilson. With essays by Peter Osborne, Isabel Carlos and Mark Cousins. Includes a chronology, exhibitions history and many examples of the Wilson's work.
Text is in Spanish, Galician and English.
