Dare, Eleanor, 2017, Show, Exhibition or Event, My past has not happened yet. But it interferes with my present
Abstract or Description: | This is a VR work and a film screening, it's a kind of science fiction - a time-machine for flitting between states, between spaces and objects, animal and human energies. How we write about what happened differs from what happened. This is a starting point for her memory of that day, a day in the woods. Her memory is tangled and dynamic, a spiky place with unexpected glades and moments of urban peace, as well as a place of terrifying traps. What she writes about is, of course, a dead world. A dead world living in the present. Inside her. Who was it said 'the past doesn't exist, it hasn't even happened yet?'. My past is constantly happening, it exists because it is still both unfolding outwards and re-folding into me. My past has not happened yet. But it interferes with my present. |
