de Leon, Nick, Dale, Kay and Hasbeck, Lilith, 2015, Art or design object, Design of Dying
Abstract or Description: | This action research project was undertaken with Royal Trinity Hospice to explore how design could contribute not only to the palliative care offered by the hospice but also to the end of life experience for both the patients and their families. The project was initiated by Nick de Leon and its scope and objectives defined in collaboration with Royal Trinity Hospice. The work was undertaken by de Leon's students under his personal supervision and guidance as the Principal Investigator. The resulting project received extensive press coverage with 3 full pages in the national press - The Independent. The resulting services were subsequently adapted in part and implemented within the hospice and have contributed to ameliorating the end of life experience for patients in the subsequent years. |
