Crowley, David, 2016, Show, Exhibition or Event, Poster Remediated
Abstract or Description: | The Poster Remediated was commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary of the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, probably the most important event of its kind. Using this opportunity to reflect on the past, present and future of the poster, the exhibition explores how posters have and are being mediated in various ways since the development of the format in the late C19th. Rather than focus attention on individual posters, it examines the ways in which a poster image can undergo different cycles of remediation. The project involved original research, for instance, in collections and archives in Kyiv to gather material relating to the mediation of the Euromaidan protests in 2013-14. The exhbition features c. 200 works from c. 22 countries. It is accompanied by a book which was edited and, in large part, written by Crowley. |
