Abstract or Description:

This work was presented for the first time at Beit Ha’ir, Tel Aviv. Solo show. 2012.
and came from work generated over The Royal Opera House weekend : Ignite, creatively directed by Mike Figgis, 2011, before being edited and presented in this exhibition in Melbourne, Australia.
The work produced here is a combination of styles and came directly from the
time over the IGNITE weekend. IT was was a game, a sketch, and a study. A study that was a tributary off the study that had begun, all about the language of coding and programming, this new mathematical language that was describing our world.
One Saturday morning we had been invited to watch a Royal Ballet class, an exercise for their work during the week that keeps them flexible to the steps and yet takes them through a class of traditional moves all directed and led mostly by a senior dancer of reputation.
We were not allowed to record digitally but draw and steal with our eyes.
This close involvement in their discipline interweaved with our thoughts at the time and we talked of this after, as watching their code. Those first 5 positions that when created into new equations become some of the most beautiful moves, mathematics in the air, up and down, elegant line elegant movement.
So in working with the 2 dancers that weekend we often referred to this code in a way that could cross disciplines and these are the recordings of such gestural mathematical moves.
