Staton, Sarah, 2014, Art or design object, Steve

Abstract or Description:

Steve is an inhabitable public sculpture in the form of an large Corten steel shell like form, with attendant planting located at Folkestone Harbour. Its impact is felt in terms of the material combination, Corten Steel with soft and verdant planting, the asymmetry of its form reflects the increasingly asymmetric social framework that can be seen across the West. Steve is a waiting space that invites revelry and reverie, with potential to be copted defensible structure hiding in clear view as innocuous artwork.
