  • Animation Installation: The Affect of Place

Hosea, Birgitta, 2015, Book Section, Animation Installation: The Affect of Place In: The Boundless Space: Transcending the Threshold Conference Proceedings. Bucheon International Animation Festival, Bucheon, Korea. ISBN TBC (in Korean)

Abstract or Description:

Goosebumps, hairs stand on end, a knot in the stomach, an inexplicable feeling of chill or even panic… walking through an unfamiliar place can have a visceral impact on the human subject.

What does viewing animation in a site-specific context add to the experience of animation and is it a different experience from viewing animation from a fixed seat? Through a consideration of animation that Birgitta Hosea has created for installation as interventions in historic spaces, this presentation will investigate the affect of site and the impact of the viewing context on the embodied perception of an animation.
