  • The Context and Practice of Post-Critical Museology

Walsh, Victoria, 2015, Book Section, The Context and Practice of Post-Critical Museology In: Murawska-Muthesius, Katarzyna and Piotrowski, Piotr, (eds.) From Museum Critique to the Critical Museum. Ashgate Publishing, UK, pp. 195-214. ISBN 9781472422354

Abstract or Description:

This book chapter argues against the central thesis of the wider publication that there is any useful research or work to be done within a model of either critiquing the museum or converting it to a 'critical museum'. Instead it argues that the museum is now part of an expanded network of interests that demand the museum be understood as an organisation not an institution, and that therefore new research methods are needed that address and engage with this. The chapter discusses the Tate Encounters research project and the research method of the post-critical that was developed and articulated through it.
