Abstract or Description:

This book chapter explores the ways in which the Chinese Imperial Dragon Robes were re-used in Europe in the early twentieth century through a focus on three short case studies. It is part of a very well-illustrated anthology that engages a very wide readership and is also being published in a Chinese edition. The book brings together the latest scholarship on histories of the global circulation of textiles to address the need for a comprehensive collection of scholarly texts on the history of the global circulation of textiles that is also accessibly written. Each essay is focussed around a series of images, so that material artefacts are brought to the fore within each narrative of global exchange.
